Kolkata:Mukul Roy, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s national executive, has been granted bail in a case of assault on the police. His bail was accepted by the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday.
It is worth mentioning that in the last week of December 2018, a public meeting was held in Asansol, which was addressed by Mukul Roy. It is alleged that after Mukul’s speech, policemen were surrounded and beaten up in the area. Four policemen were injured. In this case Mukul Roy was charged with making inflammatory statements.
In this case, he had petitioned the Calcutta High Court for anticipatory bail, which was heard on Tuesday. The court granted anticipatory bail to Mukul Roy. It has also directed that within the next three weeks, bail will have to be ensured by appearing in the special court of Barasat.
