ACP KM Joseph of the Women’s Crime Branch said that the girl was rescued from her sister-in-law’s house in Kuberanagar area. He told, “The girl has been sent to the Women’s Protection Home where the rescued girls live from socio-legal matters.” The Protection Officer of Social Justice Department lodged a complaint with Hadad Police Station of Banaskantha. Legal action has started in the case after the video of the girl’s wedding went viral on social media.
In the video, a 35-year-old man, identified as Govind Thakor, is seen filling the vermilion with the girl’s demand. Examining the video, the Social Justice Officer reached Khermal village in Banaskantha. Here, the girl’s father recognized her and accepted her marriage. Two months ago, the girl was taken to a fair where she was introduced to Thakor by a broker. Thakor bought the girl for 50 thousand and married her in August.
The FIR also states that after the wedding, the father of the girl talked of bringing her home but Thakore refused to send. Hadad police have registered a case against the girl’s father, husband and agent.
