New Delhi; Ajay Kumar Bhalla has been appointed as the new Home Secretary of the country. The Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet has approved the appointment of Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Officer on Special Duty in the Ministry of Home Affairs as Home Secretary, to replace Rajiv Gauba. The Modi government has appointed Rajiv Gauba as the Cabinet Secretary.
Ajay Kumar Bhalla is a 1984 batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre. Prior to this, Ajay Kumar Bhalla has been the Secretary of Power. He will hold the post of Home Secretary for the next two years (August 2021). Prior to this, Rajiv Gauba was appointed as Cabinet Secretary.
Rajiv Gauba will hold the post of Cabinet Secretary from 30 August 2019 for the next two years. Ajay Kumar has been appointed as the Secretary of Defense. Apart from this, Brij Kumar Aggarwal has been appointed as Lokpal Secretary and Subhash Chandra as Secretary, Department of Defense Production. These appointments have been approved by the cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
