Elakshi and Samaira are two sisters. sixth grade, Elakshi studies in
sixth class and Samaira in third. Both sisters have recently got their hair cut. Both sisters had long hair.
They both sisters live in Gurugram (formerly Gurgaon) adjoining Delhi. In a conversation with ‘The Better India’, Elakshi says, ‘We saw an online video. In it, a girl gifted a wig before going to school. The girl in the video was a cancer patient. She had hair loss due to chemotherapy. There was a different happiness on his face after getting the wig. I can never forget that joy and laughter. ‘
Doctors also believe that hair loss due to chemotherapy leaves a mental and emotional impact on the patient. Seeing the video, both Elakshi and Samaira became emotional too. She spoke to her mother Cynthia and said that she wanted to donate her hair for this noble cause.
Samaira said, ‘I cut my hair 8 inches shorter. I was definitely thinking that I do not know how I will look when my hair is short. My mother helped me in this and supported me. ‘ On the other hand, elder sister Elakshi says, ‘I was scared when I sat on the chair to cut the weights. I was thinking about what my friends would say. But I also knew that I was going to give happiness to someone. ‘
After the haircut, the two sisters safely sent them to Mumbai. Both say, ‘Whoever wears the wig with our hair, we will write a letter to it later.’ Certainly this step of Elakshi and Samaira is commendable. The inspiration that arouses in them after watching a video will bring joy to someone else’s face.
