Kolkata: Hundreds of naphtha cracker unit of Haldia Petrochemicals Limited caught fire on Friday causing scorching 15 people. A senior police officer gave this information. Superintendent of Police of Purba Medinipur V Solomon Nesakumar said that the fire started at 11:15 am and it has not been controlled yet. He said the scorched people have been taken to the nearest hospital.
The Superintendent said that the condition of three of the scorched people is very critical and others are minor burns. He told that some scorched people are being sent to Kolkata for treatment. The police officer did not say whether the workers were still trapped in the unit.
