Liquor Scandal: BJP cancels primary membership of Ajay Sonkar alias Ghonchu

Dehradun: On Monday, the party took major action against Ajay Sonkar alias Ghonchu, leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) involved in the smuggling of illegal liquor. The BJP has canceled the primary membership of Ajay Sonkar’s party. Six people died on Friday after drinking poisonous liquor in Pathariyapir area. The involvement of BJP leader Ajay Sonkar alias Ghonchu has been stated in this case. The party canceled the primary membership of Sonkar on the fourth day of the incident.

Metropolitan president Vinay Goyal said that after the order of state president Ajay Bhatt, Ajay Sonkar alias Ghonchu has been expelled from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect. He said that Ajay Sonkar was a councilor of the Congress and joined the BJP after the last assembly election. Goyal said taking information about Ajay Sonkar and taking cognizance of the police action, an action has been taken against him. The state president has also given instructions that at present the membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party, active membership and election of booths are going on, he cautioned that the BJP’s family is growing up. By misusing this opportunity, a person of doubtful instinct could not become an active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party or an officer of any level.

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat summoned the officials of Home Excise and Police Department on Sunday night. He took detailed information from the authorities about the incident of alcoholism in Pathariyapir and the action taken after it.

The Chief Minister said that the person who is being named as the main accused in this whole case should be arrested as soon as possible. Whether the man is on earth, in the sky, or in hell. Should be caught under any circumstances.

The Chief Minister said that if the matter of protection is found, it will not be tolerated. The entire incident should be investigated in depth. The Chief Minister expressed strong displeasure that something is going on in the middle of the city and our agencies do not know how this can happen. Every aspect of the incident should be closely investigated and strict action will be taken on whoever is found guilty or responsible.

The Chief Minister asked the officials of the department to prepare a proposal if any amendment in the Excise Act is needed to further tighten the proceedings against the traffickers. Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh, DG Law and Order Ashok Kumar, Principal Secretary Anandabardhan, Secretary Nitesh Jha, IG Garhwal Range Ajay Rautela, Commissioner Excise Sushil Kumar, DM Dehradun C. Ravishankar, SSP Arun Mohan Joshi were present in the meeting.
