Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor’s Chhichhore picked up at the box office after a slow start on Friday. Helmed by Dangal director Nitesh Tiwari, the film hit the screens on September 6.
Chhichhore opened with a decent Rs 7.32 crore and went on to earn Rs 12.25 crore on Saturday. On Sunday, the film collected Rs 16.41 crore taking the total amount earned by Chhichhore in three days to Rs 35.98 crore.
A campus drama, Chhichhore stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Sharma, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Naveen Polishetty, Saharsh Kumar Shukla and Tushar Pandey in pivotal roles.
The film has received mixed reviews from film critics, but the nostalgia element seems to have struck a chord with the audience. It reminds you of the 2009 film, 3 Idiots in bits and pieces, but comparing it entirely with the cult film will only lead to disappointment. The film is divided into two parts and revolves around Anni (played by Sushant) and his college buddies. The film showcases how their lives undergo major changes after they all graduate.
One part of the film shows the friends in their college and how they strive to win a sports competition and the second part shows them grown up.Released in around 1200 – 1300 screens, Chhichhore’s first-day collection was nearly equal to Sushant Singh Rajput’s Kedarnath, which was released in around 2000 screens. Kedarnath marked Sara Ali Khan’s debut.
