Floods are in many states of the country. Among them, the situation in Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttarakhand is worse. The Ministry of Home Affairs is working to provide all possible help to the affected states by taking continuous meetings. A central control room has been created for this in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Due to the situation of floods across the country, people are facing a lot of trouble. The most affected states are Kerala,Karnataka,Gujarat,Maharashtra and Uttarakhand. The Home Ministry has been sitting with the officials from time to time and is working on a strategy to provide all possible help to the affected states.A central control room has been set up in the Ministry of Home Affairs, where information is being received about flood-affected districts from every state. After which NDRF and other agencies are informed about the situation and help is provided to the affected people.
Helping people first priority
In the last 3 days, 4 important meetings have been held regarding the flood situation. On Thursday, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai held a high-level meeting in the Ministry of Home Affairs, which included NDRF DG SK Pradhan, disaster department officials, Airforce and Army representatives.Taking the people stranded in floods to safe places and reaching food items to the needy is the priority of the government at the moment. On Wednesday, the Cabinet Secretary held a high-level meeting of the National Crisis Management Committee.
According to a report in the Ministry of Home Affairs on the situation in Karnataka where there has been heavy damage due to floods, 71 people have lost their lives so far. Due to floods in Karnataka, houses of 3531 people have been damaged, 3148 cattle have died. 71 people have died. Of these, 35 died due to lightning, 25 died due to falling house and trees, 12 died due to floods and one person died from land slide. So far, 32748 people affected by the flood have been evacuated to safer places.
Relief works are going on in all the flood affected districts of Kerala. Of these, about 100 people have been saved in the rescue operation of NDRF from Wayanad alone. Of these, 55 people were trapped in landslides from where they have been safely evacuated. Meanwhile, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has requested the Central Government and State Government officials to expedite the relief work.
The situation in Maharashtra and Gujarat is also being reviewed from time to time in the same manner. 55 teams of NDRF are deployed in the affected states. 19 more teams of NDRF will be deployed in these states. Apart from this, 16 Army and 30 Navy Coast Guard teams are stationed at different places. The government is constantly in touch with all the concerned agencies to deal with the situation and the affected states have also been made clear that the deployment of the members of the rescue team will increase further if needed.
