Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owner Nita Ambani shared the story of Jasprit Bumrah, currently the world’s No.1 Test bowler, at the Sports Summit held in London. Bumrah hails from Mumbai Indians and has been a part of this team since 2013. Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita shared a video by Bumrah and her mother recounting the story at the summit. Neeta also spoke with Bumrah about several other players from Mumbai Indians.
Neeta said at the summit, ‘Talent can come from anywhere and touch success. I want to share with you the best story of a young sportsman who was discovered by Mumbai Indians from a very small town. A video was then played at the summit in which Bumrah’s mother Daljit Bumrah and Jaspreet talk about their struggle. Daljeet also gets emotional while narrating the story of his son in the video.
After this video, Neeta said, ‘Today Bumrah is the inspiration for the youth. In the last 10 years, Mumbai Indians have fired many young players, including many players like Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya. I want to see the day when boys and girls coming from small cities of the country can dream big and make them come true.Apart from this, Nita also referred to several sports programs run by her foundation.
