Pearl Punjabi, Aspiring Actress in Mumbai, Allegedly Commits Suicide By Jumping From Apartment Terrace.A struggling actress in her twenties, identified as Pearl Punjabi, allegedly committed suicide by jumping from her third-floor apartment terrace in Lokhandwala, Mumbai. The incident took place on 30th August, Thursday night, between 12.15-12.30 pm.
On hearing screams from Pearl’s floor, the watchman Bipin Kumar Thakur approached the scene and discovered what had happened. He said, “There was some noise, I thought somebody was shouting on the road. We went there to check what was happening. When I came back, I heard sounds from the third floor where she lived.”
Pearl was rushed to Kokilaben Hospital where she was declared dead. Initial police investigations revealed that the deceased, who was between 22 to 25 years old, was a working professional but had been struggling to get a break in Bollywood since a long time, without any luck. It was reported that she was mentally disturbed because of her inability to enter the entertainment industry and had frequent fights with her mother.
Some people claimed that she seemed possessed by a soul as she was very short-tempered and unable to control her behaviour at times. She had allegedly tried to commit suicide on two previous occasions but had been rescued in time. The police is still investigating the reasons behind her death. Recently, another small-time actress, Pradnya Parkar, killed her 17-year old daughter and then committed suicide. Though she had appeared in some serials, the actress was out of work but did not blame anyone in her suicide note. Mumbai is one of the most densely populated cities of the world but still attracts thousands of aspiring actors, from all over India, who come to the city to try their luck in the lucrative and glamorous film and television industry.
