Kanpur: In Uttar Pradesh’s Ganga Ghat area of ​​Unnao, a police constable on Saturday attempted to commit suicide by leaping into the Ganges from a moving train.
Police sources said that Abhay Singh (32), posted in Kanpur police line, jumped from the Ganga bridge in a moving train. Shocked by this sudden incident, the passengers made a noise which the seafarers present at the ghat took the drowned soldier out of the river.He told that the soldier boarding the MEMU passenger train was going from Kanpur to his residence in Lucknow. According to the railway passengers, while talking on the mobile phone, the soldier stood at the door of the train and as soon as the Ganges bridge came, he jumped into the river.
Sources said that the constable has been admitted to Ursla Hospital in Kanpur in an unconscious state where his condition is stated to be out of danger. Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police of Kanpur, Anant Dev said that the soldier posted in the police line had taken a five-day holiday on Friday and was going to Bakshi’s pond in Lucknow, his home. He told that according to Vinay Kumar Singh Chauhan, brother of the injured soldier, the soldier got married two years ago and he used to fight with his wife, which keeps him under stress.
He said that prima facie, due to domestic quarrel, the police is trying to commit suicide, although the exact reasons will be known after he becomes aware.
