Guwahati: An official of the Central Public Works Department (CPW) was arrested by the police on the charge of making indecent proposals to a girl near Anuradha Cinema Hall of Bamuni Maudam under Chandmari police station. Police say the arrested officer’s name is Tapan Chaudhary (54, Ulubari).
Police said CPW officer Tapan Chaudhary, a female employee working in 108 offices near Anuradha Cinema Hall in Bamuni Maudam, had been following and stalking and harassing her for a year after making obscene offers. Even while walking, the officer was intimidating by making mobile videos of the woman. Fed up with this act of Tapan Chaudhary, the father’s age, the woman stopped coming to office .
Recently, the woman was riding in a city bus, suddenly the officer swung and even threatened to kill her for not accepting his indecent proposal. Immediately the woman made a ruckus. Hearing the noise of the woman, the other passengers in the bus asked the woman the reason to scream, Tapan Chaudhary jumped from the bus and ran away.In connection with the incident, the woman lodged a case in this regard at the Chandmari police station. Police arrested Tapan on the basis of the case recorded. In connection with the incident, the police registered a case under Section 354 of Bhadvi and started investigation.
